The Bruker JPK BioAFM Business is the global market leader for atomic force microscopes (AFM) and optical tweezers (OT) for biomolecular and cellular imaging, as well as force measurements on singlemolecules, cells and tissues. These high-performance instruments are developed, produced and supported at the Bruker facility in Berlin and sold worldwide. For our JPK BioAFM headquarters at Berlin, Germany we are looking for a Director Bio AFM Operations (m/f/d)
Oversees and manages the BIO AFM product business manufacturing operations, including procurement, product assembly and test, production control and planning, and in-process inventory control
Defines goals and objectives, drives continuous improvement, and works with other Business Unit leaders to drive best practices (including lean and best-cost manufacturing initiatives) to support customer and business requirements
Develops and executes organizational and budgetary plans to achieve near term and long-term operational goals; selects, develops and actively manages human resources to ensure the efficient and high-performance operation of the organization
Develops and implements plans, budgets, policies and procedures
Responsible for meeting shipment, quality, and inventory targets to meet quarterly gross margin and revenue targets
Manages and directs quarterly product production and test to deliver revenue, gross margin and quality targets
Manages and directs component and subassembly procurement and inventory to support quarterly production slot plan, revenue and inventory goals
Manages and directs shipping, receiving and inspection of all outbound product and inbound inventory
Works with Service, Marketing and Development to provide timely resolution of customer product problems and drive product quality improvements
Works closely with Development team to support new product development and release, including the generation and control of necessary product and process documentation
Works interdisciplinary with Development, Logistics and Procurement to identify and complete all documents to fulfill all legally necessary requirements, e.g. apply for FDA or CE certificates
Works with Finance and Business Unit management to develop annual operating budget and objectives
Develops and staffs a high performance, high quality organization
Determines and implements key metrics to drive operational performance and efficiency
Manages and directs delivery planning, ensures on time delivery of parts and components, controls and optimize inventory
Manages and directs conclusion of vendor contracts, e.g. frame and 3rd party contracts
Works with Bruker sales offices, distributors and finance partners to ensure processes in compliance with commercial law and tax matters
Has clear communication with Bruker sales offices and distributors for on time and high quality delivery to ensure high customer satisfaction
Manages and directs manufacturing / delivery planning to meet Business Unit revenue goals
Manages and directs order administration team to collect and review all needed information and documents belonging to customer orders, ensure processes according to the compliance rules
Manages and directs communication with logistics team
Manages and directs on time bookings in cooperation with finance team
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven leadership skills a manufacturing organization, including assembly, test, production planning, and inventory control.
Global supply chain knowledge and the ability to deliver material to support product delivery requirements while minimizing direct inventory.
Experience with implementing and managing lean manufacturing systems is a plus
Maintains high ethical standards, communicates material issues as they arise
Strong verbal and written communication abilities, able to communicate effectively to all levels of the company in German and English.
Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
Strong organizational, leadership and time management skills; able to lead change
Able to organize, coordinate, and direct projects
Solid PC skills using, but not limited to, Microsoft Suite products
Solid SAP experience
A Bachelor’s Degree in business or a technical field is required, with a minimum of 10 years of operations or production management experience
The experience must include at least 5 years of proven experience leading a manufacturing organization, including assembly, test, production planning, and inventory control
Preferably experience with the assembly and test of complex, high performance equipment / instrumentation.
